アウケニプテルス類

大きな頭部と口、体には大柄で派手な模様を持つナマズの仲間です。
未成魚の模様は、成魚になると細かい点模様に変化します。
一見獰猛な印象を受けますが、比較的おとなしく体長くらいのサイズの魚なら混泳可能です。
ほぼ完全な夜行性で昼間は物陰に隠れ、夜に成ると出てきて捕食します。
人工資料にも餌付くため、飼育は容易。
